Hi!Love this site! Learned so much background; to add to what I was told as a child. Just getting started with compiling & researching my heritage on my dad's side. His mother was a 'Douglas', and his grandmother was a 'Stuart'. The families resided Tn./Carolinas/Ky./IL. That's all I know so far. - Bonnie(nee Zaricor, IL.)[Moore] Dubuisson, AL.

I have a redheaded Scotch Irish grandmother whose grandmother was a Margaret Stewart.   Margaret married a McLachlan and her sister Elizabeth married a James McLachlan and both families moved from Caledonia NY to Springfield Ontario about 1824.   I am not sure but it appears these families landed in Johnstown, NY.   Margaret   & Elizabeth Stewart were born about 1795 in Blair Athol, Scotland.   I think the father name was James Stewart.   I need more info on this branch of Stewarts.   Ed Harrow, MrEdOH@aol.com

Hi there, this history stuff is so interesting. Queens, Kings and relatives...one never knows what you will find.   I am looking for information on Angus Stewart and his wife Christie MacFarlane from the Stewart Estate of Tempar who I believe travelled to Canada with his daurghter Janet who was the wife of Farquhar McKercher in 1833. They arrived in Bathurst, then made their way to New Glasgow, Pictou County. The McKerchers had seven sons and two daughters. However I believe Angus may have returned to Scotland.....Jean

am descended from the Stewart's of Cumberland County, NS.

My grandfather, Peter Norman Stewart was born in Wallace, son of Captain Charles A. Stewart & Mary Jane Thompson.   Captain Charles was a son of James Stewart and Catherine McLennan.   James was a son of Robert Stewart and Christy McDonald, of Blair Atholl Parish, Perthshire, Scotland.

I would like to hear from anyone that is connected to this line.   So far as I can tell, every Stewart in Cumberland County, NS before 1870 was related to one another.   I have extensive genealogy on this family, in NS and Scotland, and would be more than willing to share.

My name is Corinne Stuart MacGregor and I am the great great grandaughter of James Stuart (b. 1854 Isle of Bute), and Catherine Miller (b. 1855 Isle of Bute). In 1904, James Stuart built a home in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada, which is now a designated heritage home, refer to: Manitoba Municipal Heritage Site No. 157; Stuart House. I appreciate my Scottish family roots through playing the bagpipes, and through my daughter's competitive Highland dancing. I have lived and studied in Britain, and piped in many competitions in Scotland. I really appreciate your web site, and it would be a pleasure to join your association.

Queen Elizabeth the Second of England is actually Queen Elizabeth the First of Scotland.   There was not a Queen Elizabeth of Scotland before her to my knowledge.
This was pointed out to me by a member of the British Monarchist Society....Jean

Hi. Rene Stewart here from South Africa. I'm here in the UK on a working holiday and thought I'd look up my surname, as I heard it is Scottish, and was quite surprised to find this site. I'd love some more info on how to track my family name. If someone out there knows how, e-mail me at renesfreemail@hotmail.com. Cheers.

H. Douglas Stewart. I attended the association's founding gathering of 17 October 2002 and was in favour of the title; Stewart/Stuart Association. I must admit to being remiss at seeking membership at that time.
It is suspected, but as yet unconfirmed that our family originated, with William Stewart of Scotland, while the current line can be confirmed to David Stewart in 1838 at Little Italy, Lunenburg Co., thence to Basil Stewart 1874 at Mill Village, Queens Co., after which the family became longtime resident at Bear River, Digby Co. and Tusket, Yarmouth Co.

G'day I am Theodore from Australia, I am a Stuart through my Grandmother Guise, I hope one day to visit & learn from a country my blood once called home. We all could benefit from tracing our roots hence the securing of our many branches.
