Gaelic - The "Key"
Although in the Gaelic language there are only 18 letters in the alphabet (no j, k, q, v, w, x, t, a and the "h" is used only to alter the quality of the proceeding consonant) they have a phenetic guide to the pronunciation and the keys are as follows:
a       short as in "fat"
aa     long as in "far"
e       short as in "met"
i       short as in "bit"
o       short as in "hot"
aw     long as in "dawn"
ow     as in "down"
uh     short as in "grunt"
ew     long as in "fewer"
gh     guttural as in "Ugh"
ao     stretch the "I" sound to thrice its normal length
y       initially or within a word - as in "yield"
y       as a final syllable - as in "carry"
ai     short as in "bait"
ay     long as in "may"
ee     short as in "meet"
ie     short as in "line"
oh     short as in "hope"
oe     long as in "more"
u       short as in "put"
oo     long as in "poor"
ch     as in "loch"
