Ship Hector, Pictou, Nova Scotia
Ship Hector, Pictou Harbour, Nova Scotia
Launched September 2000
The "Ship Hector", Pictou, Nova Scotia   a replica of the original ship that arrived from Loch Broom, Scotland on Sept. 15, 1773 after a crossing that put the imigrants two months at sea with many dying. The Ship Hector was launched on a wild windy day in September 2000 which was only fitting because the origional ship was blown off course for a month trying to make its way to Pictou. Visit Town of Pictou Web Site.                                                                                                                 A baby (Joseph Stewart) is listed as a passenger on this ship.

The ship had its main mast hit by lightning (2007). Contributions toward the upkeep of this ship which is a huge part of the Scottish culture are greatly appreciated by the "Ship Hector Foundation", Pictou, N. S., Canada .
